Unite with me in the cancer fight and support my fundraising efforts

I have joined team Fat Cyclist to compete and raise money to fight cancer. Elden, the writer of fatcyclist.com, put together this team in support of his wife Susan, who has been battling cancer for the last couple of years. And although I don’t know Elden, I do have several friends and family that have all been affected by this devastating disease. The goal of our team is simple. To be the largest LIVESTRONG team, and to raise more money than any other team….. Ever. And we’re not just saying it, we’re doing it. Currently our team is 140 people larger than any team in history, and in 7 months we have raised over $411,000 dollars to help fight cancer.

I want to do this event to honor two women that had a profound impact on my life. My aunt Carleen Anderson, and a good friend Dr. Caryn Nesbitt. These women, one a school teacher from Iowa, the other a doctor from Connecticut, never knew each other, nor how contagious and far reaching their zest for life really was. They not only had a profound impact on my life, but on all those they encountered every day. They were the best of the best, the light that filled the room, and the joy that filled all faces when they were around. They each unfortunately, also had to fight heroic and tragic battles with cancer. In the end, their incredible will, and all the best care were not enough to overcome this terrible disease. I have yet to get over how unfair this is, and I truly think the world suffers without their presence. They are the reason I decided to do this, so that hopefully cancer can be the next polio. I will ride with their names on my back to keep their memories alive.
